My name is Dr. Mark Marciano, and I am running for the Florida House of Representatives in District 83. I have decided to run for this political office because as a family man, doctor and small business owner, I believe I am in a unique position to provide insights regarding the issues that are most important to the residents of northern Palm Beach County.

For too long, we have relied on the status quo to represent us. Our State Legislature is not nearly as diversified as the community in which we live. I respect all those that work hard to represent us in the various elected positions in our cities, counties and our state. But in my opinion, we have too many special interests being represented. We have virtually no small business owners in Tallahassee who actually rely on their business to make a living and support their families. I believe the small business community needs to be represented. Any home owner and small business owner understands the importance of fiscal responsibility. I plan on bringing this perspective to our Capitol.
In addition, there are only three doctors in Tallahassee that help make decisions that influence the health care for all Floridians. Given that health care spending takes up roughly 1/3rd the annual budget, I believe it is time for more doctors to be involved in the decisions that affect the health care of our citizens.
