Campaign Update

Filed under: Campaign News — mark @ 11:49 am

Dear Friends,

My campaign to become the next State Representative for Florida’s 83rd District is going extremely well.

As many of you are aware, I will be unopposed in the Democratic primary election so you will not see my name on the ballot on August 24th.  This is not stopping me from continuing to work hard raising money and running a strong grassroots campaign.

My legislative priorities are clear.  We must continue to encourage the expansion of the biotechnology industry throughout Florida and particularly here in northern Palm Beach County.  We must make a true commitment and investment in renewable energy sources instead of relying solely on expanded oil drilling off our shores.  And, I firmly believe we must reduce our dependence on standardized testing in our public schools, so we can allow our talented teachers to actually teach our children instead of being told to teach to a test.

I have no doubt that I can win this election on November 2nd.  Everywhere I go my message as a fiscally responsible small business owner resonates strongly.  Voters that I talk to understand that as a doctor and family man, I am running for office in order to make a difference for ALL Floridians.  As one who was inspired to run for office in order to challenge our State’s leadership instead of blindly following the politicians in Tallahassee, I am confident that I can do more to make a positive difference.

To date, I have raised close to $110,000!  This is a tremendous accomplishment and one that has made my campaign not only legitimate, but will allow me to run an effective marketing campaign in October.  However, I am not there yet.

I thank all of you for helping me keep up the momentum.  People are paying attention to my campaign and with your help, I will win in November.

  1. I would hope that Mark will be able to develop more specifics within his platform on the issues and his solutions. Small business can and will be not only the engine for jobs but it will also be part of the great innovation that is starting to come out of the shift in our society from one of consumerism to one of community. The ‘green’ or sustainable industry will be able to supply millions of safe, productive and long term jobs if the politicians will give the suppport politically and financially that is needed for these innovators to show mainstreet how they can participate also. Much of what is holding us back is fear of the unknown. Someone has to start to have faith in AMERICA’S ability to innovate, strategize and implement these needed changes to our society. I hope Mark is one of these people.
    Thanks.

  2. Barry;
    Thank you for your comments. You are absolutely correct in your assessment regarding the need for real investments in sustainable industries for Florida’s, and America’s future. We can not rely on consumer spending, tourism and building to power our future economy. We must develop and fund a plan for specific industries that will allow our economy to grow. Specifically, we must set aside funds for biotechnology firms to open or relocate to our State, and in particular to Palm Beach County. Also, we can no longer wait and watch other states and nations build a renewable energy profile that will leave Florida behind. Not only will we not be prepared to power future generations, but we would have lost our competitive position in developing energy sources from biomass, solar, tidal, etc. Florida is in a unique position to lead with our climate and extended growing seasons. Investing in our future is critical. I will fight hard to secure the necessary funding for small business development in these critical industries. Our current leadership has failed in leading our State in these critical areas.
