6 days to go!

Filed under: Campaign News — mark @ 2:10 pm

COURAGE.

6 more days!
The media is reporting a Republican wave this coming election cycle.  But here is one Democrat who can buck that trend.
As the candidate with real ideas that can move Florida forward, people within District 83 have a clear choice.  As a real political outsider without any ties to the political establishment in Tallahassee, voters can choose between a real small businessperson who will be independent and will work with all members of the legislature.  Or they can choose to stay with the status quo.  A political insider, former lobbyist and special interest candidate that will follow leadership on all issues as long as his own special interest is protected.
I am proud of my campaign and how well my message has been received around the district.  I have worked very hard talking to voters and convincing them that I have what it takes to represent the people in District 83 and all Floridians.  And I believe that the voters are ready to see some new blood in our State Legislature.
I ask that you talk to your friends, family and neighbors and have the courage to vote for the real political outsider, Dr. Mark Marciano on November 2nd.
Sincerely,
Mark

P.S.

Tomorrow night at midnight is the final deadline for contributions to our campaign!  Any amount ~ $50. – $25. or even $10 dollars will go a long way toward helping our last minute GOTV efforts both on the ground and our final marketing, and will be greatly appreciated.  We are still in need of election day volunteers to help at the polling locations on Tuesday morning, mid-day and afternoon and we’ll need to get you a Marciano shirt if you can help!  Call Jody Young at 561-704-3912 with your availability, we also have some opportunities around town this weekend if you’d like to join in!

Let’s get the real political outsider elected!

Filed under: Campaign News — mark @ 2:00 pm
Dear Friends,
BELIEVE!
For starters, I believe in my message more today than when I opened my campaign 18 months ago.
My message as being a true political outsider, true small businessman and one not attached to the political establishment resonates strongly.
My three-pronged approach of economic diversification by incentivizing biotechnology companies, a real commitment to renewable energy and improved public education by reducing the dependence on standardized testing is strong and well received by people on both sides of the aisle.
My commitment to the residents of District 83 and real solutions for real job creation is straightforward.
My opponent represents much of the same.  He is a former lobbyist for his own special interest.  People are tired of electing the same people simply because they are tight with the political circles in Tallahassee.
WE DON’T WANT MORE OF THE SAME.  WE DON’T NEED LOBBYISTS AND SPECIAL INTEREST LEGISLATORS IN TALLAHASSEE BECAUSE THEY DON’T REPRESENT THE PEOPLE!!!

Please visit my website at www.votemarkmarciano.com to watch video or listen to radio commercials, and forward the link to your friends.
I believe that I can and should win this election on November 2nd.
Please remember to vote for the true political outsider, Mark Marciano on November 2nd!
Sincerely,
Mark

p.s. We received very encouraging poll results and have another poll in the field today!  We have engineered a final-week marketing campaign to convince undecided voters that Mark Marciano should be their choice for State House.  With eight days until Election Day, we are able to accept final campaign contributions until Thursday at midnight and anything you can send will help with our GOTV efforts before Election Day.  Our Victory Party will be at Holy Smokes American Bistro and Bar on PGA Blvd and Prosperity Farms Road when the polls close… please join us as we watch the election returns!

The Ground Game

Filed under: Campaign News — mark @ 6:16 pm

We are now less than three weeks from Election Day and I am energized and excited about winning in November.  I knew from Day One that I would have to win this election on the ground.  With your help, my campaign has done a great job walking neighborhoods and spreading my message door to door.  But I am not done yet.

I am convinced that this is indeed a winnable election but I am going to need each of you to step up to the plate NOW to help me win District 83.  I am sincerely grateful for all of your hard work and dedication, but let’s not let it go to waste!
I have updated my website and ask you to view my new campaign video page at www.votemarkmarciano.com.  Please take a look and send the link to all your contacts. There are some links to view our mail pieces below as well.

I taped an interview on ESPN AM760 West Palm Beach which will air at 9:20 a.m. on Sunday morning… tell your friends to listen!

In case you missed the Palm Beach Post Endorsement on Monday:

Of course, I am still raising money in order to ensure I get my message to the voters.  Even a small donation of $25 will go a long way towards that goal.  I ask each of you to consider a $25 donation TODAY.

We are almost there and thanks to all the volunteers, supporters and well-wishers.

Let’s win this thing!

Sincerely,

Mark

The Palm Beach Post Endorsement

Filed under: Campaign News — mark @ 2:45 pm

GREAT NEWS!  Today, the Palm Beach Post editorial board announced their endorsement for my campaign for State Representative.  I wanted to share this news with you and thank the Post editorial board for recognizing my message, passion and goals for District 83.  While the endorsement will help our effort to build name recognition and momentum, it does not make my job of getting elected any easier.  In fact, it has motivated me even more to turn out voters and ensure a strong GOTV effort for the November 2nd election.

I NEED YOUR HELP NOW!  Whether you prefer to knock on doors, make calls from our campaign office or from home, talk to your friends, neighbors and colleagues or send a donation our way to help us in getting the message out to others, now is the time to commit.  The election is three weeks from tomorrow.  Absentee ballots are available and early voting starts next Monday, October 18.

Let’s continue building the momentum and working hard to send a REAL small business owner to Tallahassee!

Here’s what the Palm Beach Post had to say:

“For a first-time candidate, Democrat Mark Marciano has unusually clear, well-reasoned positions on key issues facing state legislators. The Post endorses Dr. Marciano as an independent, well-informed voice for House District 83.

Dr. Marciano, an optometrist, opposes Medicaid “reform” that forces patients into HMOs. He opposes efforts to weaken growth-management laws but doesn’t support the overreaching Hometown Democracy constitutional amendment. In this Republican-leaning northern Palm Beach County district, Dr. Marciano cannot take bedrock Democratic positions. But the Republican, Palm Beach Kennel Club President Pat Rooney, admits that he takes his cue from the ever-rigid House Republican leadership. He favored the teacher merit-pay bill and wouldn’t reject the idea of deregulating property insurance.

Mr. Rooney portrays himself as someone who knows how to run a small business, but Dr. Marciano says he is the true small-business owner, running a doctor’s office with the retail component of selling eyeglasses. Aside from running the kennel club, Mr. Rooney oversees the family restaurant businesses. “He’s not a small-business person,” Dr. Marciano said. “He’s large.”

Dr. Marciano opposes the expansion of gambling in Palm Beach County. While Mr. Rooney says he would abstain from voting on the issue, he supports expansion. He says he would oppose Vegas-style resorts in Florida, even though his family’s property on Belvedere Road outside of West Palm Beach could benefit. In 1994, however, his company partnered with Boyd Gaming, a Vegas casino operator, in anticipation of full-scale casino gambling statewide, a proposal voters rejected.

While Dr. Marciano has not matched Mr. Rooney’s $190,000 campaign account, he has raised $134,000. He has prepared himself for the job much more than Mr. Rooney. District residents would benefit from his insight, independence and grasp of the issues.”

To our volunteers, supporters and well-wishers, thanks for your effort so far, let’s win this thing!

Sincerely,

Dr. Mark Marciano

Mark in the news…

Filed under: Campaign News — mark @ 12:04 pm

Here are links to several recent articles and sites regarding the District 83 race…

An optometrist, Marciano said he is a small business owner with no special interest connections in Tallahassee.  “We want to see a real economic engine drive our economy,” he said.

http://www.palmbeachdailynews.com/news/candidates-air-views-on-jobs-economy-at-palm-949061.html

“As soon as I get elected, I’m pushing for matching funds from the state to bring more biotech. Jobs, jobs, jobs – that’s my number one priority,” said Marciano, who opened his optometry business in Palm Beach Gardens four years ago.

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/state/florida-house-83-candidates-in-diverse-district-focused-940636.html

As a doctor, I hope to bring some much needed diversification to our State Legislature. Currently, we have a large number of attorneys or career politicians in Tallahassee, but only three doctors. I hope to bring my medical background that can help make proper decisions pertaining to health care and the State Medicaid program.

As a real small business owner, I feel I understand the challenges the small business community faces. Our slumping economy is proof that the economic planning of the State Legislature has been inadequate, at best.

I am not born of privilege and I work very hard, every day to make my business a success. I hope to bring my energy and passion to the State Legislature and be a voice for the small and micro-business owner.

Six Weeks To Go!

Filed under: Campaign News — mark @ 7:00 pm

We are just 6 weeks away from Tuesday, November, 2nd Election day! I am so excited about the progress we’ve made, and the great chances we have for victory. But we cannot slow down. On the contrary, it’s time to kick things into high gear.

We have a solid plan in place to market my campaign during the remaining six weeks. Up to now, we have focused our attention on building our grassroots campaign. We have many local volunteers ready to work and help the campaign. Our fundraising efforts continue to exceed expectations but we will need more. Our calendar is full of appearances, forums and opportunities to get my name and face known to voters throughout the district. I would encourage all of you to attend an event and see both my opponent and I together.

On Thursday, October 7 we will be having a meet and greet / fundraiser from 5-7pm at Paddy Mac’s , at 10971 North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33414. Please RSVP so we know how many are coming!

For those of you living in District 83, if you are willing and able to open your home or community space for a small reception, I would love to meet your neighbors and tell them about the campaign; let us know and we’ll work it in on the schedule!

There are many things volunteers can do to help my campaign. We continue to hold volunteer events for letter folding and stuffing. We are continuing our weekend walks throughout the district and placing literature at the doors of all residents. In addition, our yard signs are available and to date, we have distributed almost 200 signs to friends, family and volunteers. Placing a sign in your yard is a great way to show support and an even better way to pump up my name recognition in your local communities.

Volunteer opportunities and our campaign signs are available at 5540 PGA Boulevard, Suite 102. If you would prefer we deliver a sign to you, please contact Jody at 561-704-3912 or email him at jody_r_young@att.net.

There is no reason why I shouldn’t win this election. With your help, we can make it a reality!

Thank you for all of your support and I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail.

Sincerely,
Mark

Rosh Hashanah

Filed under: Campaign News — mark @ 4:29 pm

As summer turns to autumn and our campaign gets into full gear, I wanted to pause for a moment and wish our Jewish friends and neighbors L’Shanah Tova, a very happy and healthy Rosh Hashanah.  During the High Holidays it would do all of us well to join with our friends in their reflection of another year passed and to look forward to what the next year will bring.  I look forward to speaking with all of you during the next eight weeks leading to November 2 and thank you for your kind support.

IT’S GO TIME!!!

Filed under: Campaign News — mark @ 9:03 pm

Dear Friends;

My campaign to become the next State Representative in District 83 is in high gear. We are running a strong grassroots campaign and are raising the funds to implement a winning strategy that will lead us to victory in November.

Our Republican friends have nominated their candidate, Pat Rooney, Jr. Now, we must get my message out to the voters and distinguish my platform from his.

I entered this campaign over a year ago, aware of the challenges that lay ahead. I remain steadfast in my dedication and commitment to this campaign. I have no doubt that I can be victorious in November, but I can’t do it without your help.

If you have not yet visited my website, please visit www.votemarkmarciano.com. There, you can learn more about my positions and plans to help move Florida in the right direction. You can follow our campaign on Facebook as well.

If you have not signed up to volunteer for the campaign, or wish to donate, please do so today. With your support, we can win this campaign!

I look forward to seeing you during the next 9 weeks.

Sincerely,

Mark
